PRESS RELEASE

Clare Adamson, SNP MSP for Motherwell & Wishaw this week lodged a Parliamentary Motion praising the St Vincent de Paul Society and parishioners of St Ignatius of Loyola for their dedicated work in organising a free clothing giveaway in the Loyola Centre on Saturday 11th June. Over 300 people attended the event which was opened by Ms Adamson and they took away a very large amount of all types of clothing for all ages.

Commenting, Ms Adamson said:

“I think this is an excellent example of local collaboration offering real practical help to those in need.”

The event aimed to help people whose family budget does not run to smart clothes for work, interviews or special occasions by providing access to high quality new and pre-loved clothing for all ages. The team at Dress for Success Strathclyde helped parishioners sort and present the clothing. Oxford Blue – Classic English Country Clothing and Versatile Sports donated some £8000 of new clothing. Local traders Asda (Newmains), Lloyds Pharmacy, Ladbrokes, Stanford Logistics and Mainetti Trading Fashion also supported the event.
